Carsten Höller: Two

Carsten Höller’s first institutional solo show in China is now open at UCCA
August 28, 2026

The first institutional solo exhibition in China of artist Carsten Höller, “Carsten Höller: Two,” has officially opened at UCCA Center for Contemporary Art. bespoke. was proud to take part in this exhibition, providing technical support for two of the rotating installations — working alongside the artist and project team to bring the works to life on site.

Carsten Höller is one of the most influential installation artists working today, bringing a background in scientific research to large-scale participatory installations that transform movement, light, and perception into experimental, interactive experiences — challenging how we understand reality and our own perception.

Through a series of participatory installations and shifting perceptual environments, the exhibition explores repetition, play, time, dreams, and collective experience. Many of the works are not static — they unfold through mechanical movement, lighting systems, and audience participation, together forming an ever-changing live experience. The installations respond in real time to visitors entering, moving through, and interacting with them — making technology not just a support behind the work, but an essential part of how the artistic experience comes into being.
